About the Fransen Group

Alex grew up in Louisville and, at a young age, took an interest in the turf industry. Before he could drive, he would catch a ride with his brother to work at Nevel Meade golf course, where he saved enough money to buy his first mower. After a few seasons at Nevel Meade, he started working at Hurstbourne Country Club, perfecting his skills and furthering his knowledge of the turf industry. Working his summer job afforded him the opportunity to buy his first commercial lawn mower so he could start mowing lawns in his neighborhood after work. Through high school, Alex worked on his entrepreneurship, waking up early to mow at the golf course, mowing lawns, and landscaping in the evenings. After high school, Alex attended Western Kentucky, where he studied Turf and Horticulture. While in Bowling Green he started a successful lawn care and irrigation company that he sold after college. Alex was recruited after college to work for a national landscape company in Louisville, where he learned the commercial landscape industry. After 10 years in the commercial landscape industry and over 18 years in the industry, Alex decided to start the Fransen Group.

Alex is continually involved in his industry and community, serving as chair for “Planet Gives Back,” which gives back to the city of Louisville. He is also on the Property Committee for the Greater Louisville YMCA’s.
